California Catches, Then Releases, 14 Smash And Grab Robbery Suspects On No Bail

If Californians are wondering why they cannot get a handle on the rampant crime spree that is gripping their state they need look no further than the people they placed in power and the ridiculous policies they have.

Police in the state were finally able to apprehend 14 “smash and grab” thieves this week but they did not stay caught for long.

Do to the incredibly weak no bail policy all 14 suspects were released, kind of like what is done at the border, Fox News reported.

“All the suspects taken into custody are out of custody, either as a result of one juvenile, or the others as a result of bailing out or zero-bail criteria,” Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore said to reporters.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon, a super liberal who backs the asinine zero bail policy, said the suspects would still be held accountable.

“Our office has been collaborating with multiple law enforcement agencies and once all the evidence has been gathered, we will review the cases to determine what criminal charges should be filed,” his special advisor, Alex Bastian, said. “These brazen acts hurt all of us: retailers, employees and customers alike.”

The California Supreme Court ruled in March that judges have to take into account a suspect’s ability to pay bail, unless the suspect is determined to be too dangerous to be freed.

Mayor Eric Garcetti and Police Chief Moore both called for an end to the no bail policy at a news conference.

“We need the help of our criminal justice system, of our judges, of our jailers,” the mayor said.

“We have opened up a lot of the city because we’re in a better place with COVID. We should be able to also open up our jails, and we should be able to have judges that put people behind those bars,” he said.

Dimwit White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki ridiculously claimed this week that the COVID-19 pandemic was one of the root causes of the crime spree.

On Thursday at her press briefing she blamed COVID for a string of smash and grab robberies sweeping California and other states.

“Big cities are dealing with smash and grab robberies, a record number of police officers have been shot and killed this year. What is President going to do about all this lawlessness?” Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy said.

“I would say that when the President proposed additional funding in his budget, over the funding that had been proposed by the prior president, to increase in support of local police departments, make sure we keep cops on the beat. And we ensure that local communities are working in partnership to crack down on crime and any dangers they see in their communities. So that’s one of the steps,” she said.

“We’ve also worked with a range of communities across the country on strike forces, as you know, something we’ve talked about in the past. We’re continuing to implement that from the Department of Justice. But the President absolutely believes that community police forces can have an important instrumental effect in helping keep communities safe,” she said.

But then Doocy pressed her on President Biden’s previous position that the pandemic was causing more crime.

“Does the president still think that crime is up because of the pandemic?” he said.

“I think many people have conveyed that and one of the root causes of crime in communities is guns and gun violence. And we’ve seen that statistically around the country,” the press secretary said.

“So when a huge group of criminals organizes themselves, they want to go loot a store, a CVS and Nordstrom, a Home Depot until the shelves are clean. You think that’s because of the pandemic?” the Fox News reporter said.

“I think a root cause in a lot of communities is the pandemic, yes,” she said.

The lawlessness seen particularly in California is majorly affecting the bottom line of big-box retailers. Last month, Best Buy reported that despite the companies revenues beating expectations their gross margin fell dramatically. This news caused their stock to drop as much as 17%. According to the company, the margin drop they experienced is a direct result of the vast organized theft taking place in their stores.

Walgreens reported that their stores in San Francisco have four times the amount of theft than the average store anywhere else in the United States. This has caused them to pay 35 times more for security and close 22 stores. According to WSJ, the city’s answer to Walgreens was to claim that the chain was “too preoccupied with boosting profits, that theft isn’t that bad, and that the chain should just suck up the losses.”

“Much of this lawlessness can be linked to Proposition 47,” a WSJ writer explained, “a California ballot initiative passed in 2014, under which theft of less than $950 in goods is treated as a nonviolent misdemeanor and rarely prosecuted. Out of concern for safety and potential lawsuits, stores tell employees and security guards not to intervene when they witness a crime. Most suspects, if they are pursued at all by police, are soon released. Californians effectively decriminalized shoplifting. Not surprisingly, they have more of it.”

In the Bible, we read that lawlessness will be one of the key characteristics of the time prior to the return of Jesus.

In Matthew 24, when Jesus’ disciples ask Him “what shall be the signs of thy coming?” the Lord stated that, “iniquity shall abound” (Matt. 24:12). The word “iniquity” comes from the Greek word “anomia,” which means to be “without law,” not because there are no laws, but because laws are being flagrantly “violated.”

Not only is man continuously violating its own laws and constitutions but our society has vehemently worked to disregard God’s laws and standards of morality as well (1 John 3:4).

Furthermore, in 2 Timothy 3:1-3, the apostle Paul explains that “perilous times” will come in the “last days” in which people will be “covetous” (jealous of others’ riches, lovers of wealth) and “incontinent” (lacking self-restraint).

Ezekiel 36 emphasizes that when the Jews return to the land, they will do so in unbelief. There will be spiritual regeneration much later! The dry bones of Ezekiel 37 reflect a lack of breath or spiritual life. God states he is gathering them back “not for your sake but for my holy name’s sake,” because their presence among the nations caused his name to be profaned.
