Extreme summer heat across southwest Europe has ignited uncontrollable wildfires, scorching over 190,000 acres and forcing 330,000 people from their homes. Officials in Spain have declared it a national emergency—the first of its kind—as the blaze continues to threaten communities.
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains from the United States and the United Kingdom will minister in the Madrid region, providing emotional and spiritual care to those who were forced to evacuate.
“The devastation caused by these historic wildfires has left thousands facing tremendous loss and an uncertain future,” said Josh Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. “That’s why crisis-trained chaplains from across the globe are coming together to serve the people of Spain, offering a listening ear, prayer, and the hope of Jesus Christ. We want people to know that God sees them, cares for them, and has not forgotten them.”
Please join us in prayer for the people displaced by these fires. Ask God to give them comfort and healing as they sift through the ashes. Pray that our chaplains would have strength and boldness to share the lasting peace found only in Jesus Christ.
