America Is Putting Iran On Notice: ‘We Are Either Going To Talk It Out, Or Very Bad Things Are Going To Happen’

Robert Gottselig

President Donald Trump, over the last few weeks, has put Iran on notice. The back-to-back warnings issued by the United States and Iran’s threatening responses have increased the tense situation that surrounds Tehran’s unrelenting push for nuclear weapons.

President Trump underscored late last month in the Oval Office that “Iran is very high on [his] list of things to watch.”

“As you probably know, I sent them a letter just recently, and I said, ‘You’re going to have to make a decision one way or the other.’ We’re going to either have to talk and talk it out, or very bad things are going to happen to Iran, and I don’t want that to happen,” he stressed. “My big preferenceโ€”and I don’t say this with strength or weaknessโ€”my big preference is we work it out with Iran. But if we don’t work it out, bad, bad things are going to happen to Iran.”

In separate comments speaking to NBC News, the President sent a stark warning that “if [the leadership in Iran] doesn’t make a deal, there will be bombingโ€”it will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.”

“There’s a chance that if they don’t make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago,” he further cautioned.

According to the Times of Israel, “Iran sent a response through Oman to a letter from Trump urging Tehran to reach a new nuclear deal, saying its policy was not to engage in direct negotiations with the United States while under its maximum pressure campaign and military threats.”

Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, reiterated this insistence: “Direct negotiations [with the US] have been rejected, but Iran has always been involved in indirect negotiations, and now too, the Supreme Leader has emphasized that indirect negotiations can still continue.”

To add to this already intense situation, Iran further responded by releasing a video of one of their largest underground missile cities, showing their missiles loaded and ready for launch.

Tensions are indeed running high as Iran remains hellbent on achieving a nuclear weapon to wipe Israel off the face of the map. According to some, we are mere weeks away from Iran achieving a nuclear weapon. For that reason, we are seeing a bolstering of US forces in the Middle East. Fox News reported that “Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently sent a second aircraft carrier, the U.S. Navy’s USS Carl Vinson, to join the USS Harry S. Truman’s carrier strike group, whose deployment was also extended.”

“The U.S. also recently deployed two B-2 stealth bombers to the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, a warning to Iran and Yemen’s Houthi militia,” Fox News further detailed. “The planes are capable of carrying 30,000-pound ‘bunker buster’ bombs and are now situated within range of Iran.”

If the United States does strike Iran, the question many are asking is: will Israel also be involved? We will have to wait to see how this all unfolds. But one thing is for certain. Iran is never going to give up its path to the bomb, even if it negotiates some kind of deal. Their hatred for Israel and the United States is far greater than their common sense or care for themselves and their own people. Iran is on a collision course.

What does God have to say about all of this?

Firstly, we are reminded from Psalms 124 and 125 that it is God alone who protects His people from their enemies. In Psalm 124:1-3 we read, “‘If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,’ Let Israel now sayโ€” ‘If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;'”

Psalm 125:2 further reads, “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.”

God alone is the one that’s going to protect His peopleโ€”plain and simple. Woe unto the nations that come against them!

The second thing we can learn from God’s Word is that Israel is not going anywhere. Isaiah 54:17 tells us, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,’ Says the Lord.”

Lastly, here’s a warning to Iran and all those who come against God’s chosen people in Isaiah 41:11-12: “Behold, all those who were incensed against you Shall be ashamed and disgraced; They shall be as nothing, And those who strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find themโ€” Those who contended with you. Those who war against you Shall be as nothing, As a nonexistent thing.”

Abandoning The Duty Of A Shepherd: Should Pastors Speak About Politics From The Pulpit?

When a pastor preaches about what God has to say in His Word about gender, intimacy and marriage, sanctity of life, parental authority, stewardship of resources whether personal or societal, defending oneโ€™s family, threats of false doctrines and religions, etc., they are not being โ€œpoliticalโ€ but Biblical. Speaking on such topics does not imply that a pastor has an agenda; it simply means they are faithfully fulfilling their duty to proclaim the truth on such matters which God has laid out in His Word.
