Oklahoma Senator to File Legislation Making Attacks on Police Hate Crimes

An Oklahoma state senator said Tuesday he plans to file a bill classifying targeted assaults or threats against law enforcement officers as hate crimes.

Sen. Casey Murdockโ€™s (R-Felt) proposed legislation also included first responders, national guardsmen, and military service members, according to a press release by the Oklahoma Senate.

โ€œUnder current law, crimes with specific intent to incite or cause violence against a person based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin or disability are prohibited,โ€ WFLA reported.

The Republican senator said targeted crimes against police should be on that list.

He stated:

After the events this weekend in California โ€“ and the terrible attack on our police officers in Tulsa earlier this summer โ€“ itโ€™s more important than ever to protect our law enforcement officers and the individuals putting their lives on the line to protect our safety. With the hatred and unrest in this country, we must classify these careers as a protected class. Attacks against our peace officers are absolutely a hate crime because they are targeted based on their profession.

Two Los Angeles Sheriffโ€™s Department (LASD) deputies were shot during an apparent ambush as they sat in their patrol vehicle in Compton on September 12, according to Breitbart News.

โ€œOfficials said that the two officers were conducting a routine patrol outside an L.A. Metro train station when they were attacked,โ€ the report stated.

However, both deputies later made it through surgery and were expected to recover.

โ€œIn 2016, Louisianaโ€™s governor signed what was called the โ€˜Blue Lives Matterโ€™ bill. It made Louisiana the first state in the country to consider public safety officers a protected class under the hate-crime law,โ€ according to WBNS.

Several states followed suit, including Texas and Kentucky.

โ€œState lawmakers in Alabama and New York proposed similar legislation this year,โ€ the report said.

Measures for next yearโ€™s legislative session may be filed beginning November 15 before the January 21 bill introduction deadline, according to the Oklahoma Senate press release.

โ€œThe 2021 legislative session will begin on Feb. 1,โ€ it concluded.

HD Editors Note: What Does This Have To Do With Bible Prophecy?

In a message to his Church, Pastor Robert Jeffress commented on the lawlessness taking place in America, and the calls to defund the police:

“Not only is lawlessness wrong but the call that you hear in many quarters now to completely dismantle or defund or replace the police, that is contrary to the teachings of the Bible,” Jeffress said to his congregants. “In Romans chapter 13, Paul reminds us that God has ordained, he has established governing authority. In our day that would be law enforcement officers and the government behind them. He ordains them as ‘ministers of God to punish those who do evil.'”

Jeffress then explained that Paul wrote those words in a time where Rome ruled the world, which was a government that crucified Christ and would later behead Paul himself. And yet Paul wrote that (inspired by the Holy Spirit) that we should not resist “the powers that be are ordained of God.”

“This idea for the wholesale elimination of police is absolutely antithetical to scripture,” Jeffress reiterated.

Franklin Graham, in his latest article โ€œAmerica in Chaos,โ€ explained that we are dealing with a generation that has no respect authority or Godโ€™s standards:

I think what we are seeing today is a problem with authority. The Bible warns us about those who โ€œdespise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitariesโ€ (2 Peter 2:10).

We are at the mercy of a generation that seems to have no respect for Godโ€™s standards and no awareness of His redeeming love. One North Carolina policeman describes the streets as a spiritual battlefield. โ€œWe work where the devil plays,โ€ he said.

Terry James discussed this in his article, “Lawlessness Stage-setting & Falling Away”:

ย

The rebellious thuggery has proliferated over the past months and shows every indication that things will get much worse. Signs of rebellion, of lawlessness, are continuing to spread.

These times of lawlessness, of course, have not gone without notice by God, who knows the end from the beginning. This was predicted by Jesus Himself for this end-of-the-age moment in human history:ย โ€œBecause of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow coldโ€ย (Matthew 24:12).

ย

“God hates racism. God hates lawlessness,” Pastor Robert Jeffress stated in his message. “But… racism is not the root problem in America today. Lawlessness is not the root problem in America today. Racism and lawlessness are symptoms of the root problem. The root problem in America today is sin rebellion against God. If you try to solve the problem of racism or lawlessness without dealing with that root problem of sin and the solution to that problem: a relationship with Jesus Christ. If you try to solve racism and lawlessness without the gospel of Jesus Christ that’s like trying to cure cancer with a band-aid.”

‘Thus Sayeth The Lord’: What Do We Make Of All The ‘Pastors’ Denigrating God’s Word?

My father was a wonderful Christian man, and he would never knowingly compromise God's Word. I will never forget as a young person growing up when my father was reading and teaching the Bible. Whenever he came to verses where he read, "It is written," "thus sayeth the Lord," or "have you not read?" he would light up and talk to us about the authority of the Word of God. These supposed โ€œpastorsโ€โ€”and I say supposed because they are false shepherds leading the sheep astrayโ€”don't like what the Bible says. They would prefer to rewrite it according to their own liking.

A National Crisis Of Antisemitism: Canada Receives An Alarming Report Card On Its Treatment Of Jews

Canada has been getting bad report cards for a number of years now, with 2025 being the worst yet. According to the report by B'nai Brith, 6,800 anti-semitic incidents were documented across Canada in 2025โ€”the highest number ever recorded since the organization began tracking incidents in 1982. That is an average of more than 18 antisemitic incidents per day. The report described Canada as facing a โ€œnational crisis of antisemitism,โ€ noting that incidents increased by 9.4% over 2024 and by 145.6% since 2022. B'nai Brith reported a dramatic increase in online harassment, vandalism, and incidents of violence, especially since October 7th, 2023, as well as the alarming increase in the demonization of Zionism and trends of antisemitism on Canadian campuses.

The Danger Of Reshaping Christianity To Fit Culture: An Evangelical Pastor’s Open Letter To James Talarico

When theological claims are presented in the Name of Christ, people naturally assume they are hearing Biblical truth. My concern is that some of the positions you advocate may lead sincere people away from the clear teaching of Scripture and toward a version of Christianity that reflects the spirit of the age more than the Word of God.
