EU Urges US to Join New Israeli-Palestinian Peace Push, Rejects Trump Plan

European Union foreign ministers on Monday urged the United States to join a new effort to breathe life into long-stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians, but they rejected US President Donald Trumpโ€™s Middle East plan as the basis for any international process.

Genesis 12:3 KJV – “And I will bless them that bless thee [Israel], and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Trumpโ€™s proposal, which was unveiled in January, would foresee the eventual creation of a Palestinian state, but it falls far short of minimal Palestinian demands and would leave sizable chunks of the West Bank in Israeli hands.

Speaking after chairing video talks between the ministers and US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that the Europeans โ€œrecognize the merit of the US plan because it has created a certain momentum where there was nothing.โ€

โ€œThis momentum can be used to start a joint international effort of the basis of existing internationally agreed parameters,โ€ Borrell said, referring to the need for a two-state solution, based along the 1967 lines, with the possibility of mutually agreed land-swaps.

โ€œWe made clear that it is important to encourage the Israelis and the Palestinians to engage in a credible and meaningful political process,โ€ Borrell said. โ€œFor us, there is no other way than to resume talks.โ€ But he insisted that any new initiative must respect the โ€œinternationally agreed parameters.โ€

Trumpโ€™s plan was welcomed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed it as โ€œnonsense.โ€ Gulf Arab states also rejected the White House plan as โ€œbiased.โ€ While Israeli officials were present for its unveiling, no Palestinian representatives attended.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas also insisted on the need โ€œto revive the peace process in the region and find a way for both sides to speak and negotiate with each other.โ€

โ€œA multilateral format could certainly be the right framework for this, and we are prepared to support any initiative in this direction โ€” and I would be glad if our colleague from Washington also were prepared to do this,โ€ Maas said. No details of what the new effort might look like were provided.

Netanyahu has said that he wants to move forward with plans to annex parts of the West Bank, perhaps in early July, and Borrell said the ministers warned Pompeo about โ€œthe consequences of a possible annexation for the prospects of a two-state solution, but also for regional stability.โ€

In recent months, the 27-nation bloc has debated whether to modify its Middle East policy amid growing concern that settlement activity and US diplomatic moves, like the recognition of Jerusalem as Israelโ€™s capital, are undermining the chances of a two-state solution.

Jeremiah 30:3 KJV โ€“ย โ€œFor, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.โ€

But while the EU is the biggest provider of aid to the Palestinians, the member countries have little obvious leverage over Israel that they would be prepared to use, and it is unclear what action, if any, they would take should Netanyahu push ahead with his annexation plan.

A Calculated Spiritual Battle: Why The Abortion Industry Is Working To Invade Christian Universities

The Devil's evil, but he isn't dumb. Satan already owns Hollywood, academia, and mainstream media. What the Devil, Planned Parenthood, and the abortion industry want is a foothold in the churchโ€”specifically, the next generation of the church. Sadly, some so-called "Christians" are opening the door.

Theological Amnesia: The Danger Of The Church Forgetting Israel

When the church forgets Israel, arrogance often followsโ€”and arrogance breeds antisemitism. Church history bears painful witness to this. Yet antisemitism is again on the rise. Replacement theology, by denying Israelโ€™s place in Godโ€™s plan, risks fueling this hatred anew. Antisemitism is an affront to Godโ€™s heart. His love for Israel has never expired, and Genesis 12:3 still stands: โ€œI will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you.โ€ Antisemites hate what God loves.

Roll Your Eyes All You Want… The Rapture Is Real

Is the Rapture real? Thereโ€™s always debate around this topic. Letโ€™s start with the obvious: the Rapture sounds crazy. Jesus descends from Heaven, dead people rise from their graves, and living believers are suddenly caught up into the skyโ€”like the worldโ€™s strangest episode of โ€œStranger Things.โ€ Sounds like the stuff your uncle mutters about after three cups of church coffee. Exceptโ€”the Rapture is right there in Scripture. Paul says it. John says it. Jesus says it.
