Top British Rabbi Resigns From BCC, Says Network Is Infected By An Incurable ‘Cancer Of Antisemitism’

A top British rabbi resigned from the BBC after 30 years last week, citing the broadcaster’s incurable antisemitism.

Rabbi YY Rubinstein, who freelanced for BBC World Service and numerous other news programs, wrote in an oped piece in the Forward that the broadcaster had been intolerably “infected with the cancer of antisemitism.”

“There is a well-documented culture of low-grade antisemitism that is present throughout the entire organization,” he wrote.

Rubinstein said “something in me simply snapped” over the BBC’s skewed reporting of an incident in which Jewish schoolchildren were threatened by anti-Semitic hooligans giving Nazi salutes.

“When the BBC first reported the story, they alleged that the Jewish kids had shouted an anti-Muslim slur at their attackers. Numerous forensic experts who listened to the recording said that this claim was a complete lie,” he wrote.

“The BBC doubled down and defended their reporting,” he went on. “Even after the “fullest account” has been widely refuted, the BBC still refuses to back down.”

According to Rubinstein, “the BBC cannot fix its antisemitism problem if they refuse to acknowledge that they have one. The BBC is simply unwilling to do so.”

As Breitbart reported last week, the BBC was ranked third on a “Global Antisemitism Top Ten” list by a major Jewish group, beaten only by Iran and the Hamas terror group.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center also cited the BBC’s reporting of the attack against the Jewish teenagers.

“The BBC falsely reported that a victim on the bus used an anti-Muslim slur. But what was heard on tape was a distressed Jewish man speaking in Hebrew, appealing for help,” SWC Head Marvin Hier said.

SWC also cited a BBC journalist who in 2014 tweeted that “Hitler was right.”

Hier told the Daily Mail that “people might be surprised to see the BBC on our list, but the decision to place the BBC at No. 3 came after months of intense debate and discussion.”

“We believe the BBC has been guilty of several antisemitic incidents over the past year,” he said.

“People might think we would designate neo-Nazi groups on our list, but the BBC is there because when a globally recognized organization allows antisemitism to infiltrate its reporting, it makes it all the more insidious and dangerous,” he said.

“People all over the world trust the BBC and rely on it for truthful reporting on world events,” he said.

HD Editor’s Note: Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?

In the Rabbis’ op-ed, he underscored the fact that although many, like BBC, present themselves as merely anti-Israel, the reality at the heart of the issue is a deep-rooted hatred of Jewish people.

“The BBC’s antisemitism usually managed to camouflage itself under the guise of anti-Zionism. On this occasion, they crossed the line and showed that in fact they hate Jews…” he explained, speaking of BBC’s justification of a group of men which hurled Nazi salutes and slurs at Jewish people celebrating Hanukkah.

The Rabbi further explain that after he publicly shared his resignation, he received comments asking him why he did not remain at the organization to try to combat antisemitism.

“Given the vastness of the organization and the extent it is infected with the cancer of antisemitism, that’s a bit like inviting me to make a sandcastle on the shore to stop a tsunami,” he maintained. “In a recent interview with the UK’s Jewish Chronicle, I was asked: ‘Do you think that the BBC can be cured of its antisemitism?’ I didn’t hesitate before answering ‘No.’ The reason is simple: the BBC cannot fix its antisemitism problem if they refuse to acknowledge that they have one. The BBC is simply unwilling to do so.”

Terry James in his article, “Acceleration toward Tribulation,” wrote:

It is a sure sign that the Tribulation period, when God will begin pouring wrath on this rebellious world, must be near indeed. Jesus, Himself, prophesied that this hatred against His people will, in that future era, be far worse than at any time of human history.

With regard to this era—this pre-Rapture era—can we see this hatred for the Jews beginning to come to pass? Has the level of anti-Semitism hatred prophesied for the end of days begun to take place?

I believe so… The profound uptick in anti-Semitism, in my view, indicates that there is a speeding up in the rage toward the Tribulation era. That should inspire us as believers in Jesus Christ to expect at any moment His shout, “Come up here!” (Revelation 4:1).

Many for thousands of years have sought to understand what “reasons” people could have to hate and target the Jewish people to such a severe extent. However, it is only with a Biblical understanding that one can answer this question.

Scripture indicates that their antipathy has nothing to do with their chosen reasoning but instead that their hearts are (satanically) predisposed to hate Jews.

The children of Israel are the “Chosen People of God.” God hand-selected Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob’s seed to be the line from which He Himself would become flesh (Jesus Christ) and be born into.

In deliberate attempts to disrupt God’s plans (i.e., redemption for mankind, Salvation of Israel, and his ultimate defeat), Satan sought relentlessly through men and nations to wipe out the Jewish people. We are told that he will try and fail again through the Anti-Christ (See Revelation 12).

Shifting Geopolitical Landscape: Examining The ‘Abraham Accords’ Through A Biblical Lens

Because they are frequently mentioned in the news, it’s likely that many people are aware of the Abraham Accords and generally understand their purpose. However, if you were to ask the average person to elaborate on what it means to “normalize relations” with Israel, or what realistically takes place when a country becomes a signatory to the Accords, it’s doubtful that most would be able to confidently answer the question. So, what exactly do these agreements do, and why should we, as Christians, pay attention to them?

Vigilant To Protect: A Pastor’s Responsibility To Call Out False Teachers

I recently watched a minister online. He gave a scathing critique of those who dare call out purveyors of false doctrine. He said we should love our fellow Christians. Paradoxically, he criticized those who criticize others. He seemed intent on inoculating his followers — making them immune to charges of false doctrine against his friends and himself. In one sense, the attack seemed pious. Don’t criticize. Be loving. Be sweet. But Jesus ran the money changers out of the temple.
