On Monday, two Palestinian gunmen from the West Bank opened fire at Jerusalem’s Ramat Junction, killing six people and wounding 12 othersโsix of them seriouslyโas they targeted vehicles and pedestrians at a bus stop.
Police reported that a soldier and several civilians returned fire, killing the terrorists at the scene. The military said that the soldier was an off-duty squad commander in the IDF’s brand-new Hasmonean brigade, a unit for the ultra-orthodox troops.
Here’s my take: All attention is on the war in Gaza and the hostages that are still being held by Hamas, but once again, we are reminded that Israel’s enemies surround them and that the threat is very real.
The Palestinian territories of the so-called “West Bank,” which is Biblical Judea and Samaria, remain a threat to Israel’s national security.
