Jack Hibbs: Will You Obey God Or Follow His Own Reasoning

Some see Jonah as a story fit for Sunday School, but I think adults would be surprised at how much they can relate to him. Jonah faced a dilemma: obey God or follow his own reasoning. Jonah chose to skip town in the bowels of a ship where he fell asleep—no doubt assisted by the gentle lapping of the sea against the hull—until God brought a hellish storm.

With the ship pushed to the brink of disaster, the captain rousted Jonah, saying, “What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish.” (Jonah 1:6) While the souls of men skirted eternity, Jonah was hidden in darkness, asleep in his comfort. But when God calls you to a task, there is no place to run, nowhere to hide, and it is no time to sleep.

God called Jonah to preach to people known for their wicked practices, but Jonah disagreed with God’s plan. He could have used someone else, but He wanted Jonah. What about you? Have you resisted God’s prompting to share the gospel because you judged someone beyond His mercy and grace? Are you a modern-day Jonah?

Our Lord is as persistent in His pursuit of the saint as He is of the sinner, especially when eternity is at stake. May God forbid us to drift to sleep at a critical hour or embark on a journey other than the one He has ordained. Let us, like Salvation Army’s William Booth, “Go straight for souls and go for the worst.”

The Price Of Open Borders: Abandoning Immigration Enforcement Is Not ‘Reform’; It Is Surrendering National Sovereignty

A series of recent Spanish government decisions effectively rolled out the welcome mat to illegal immigration. The border swarm should not have been a surprise. Ceuta normally has a population of around 80,000 people. In short order, 60,000 Moroccans, 99% Muslim, mostly military-age males, crashed their way through the barriers and into the town. They carried no luggage or supplies, just hope for prosperity in Spain. They came with nothing, expecting everything. Ceuta raises a question Americans need to consider. Many in our country now oppose the agency known as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They march with signs saying, “Abolish ICE!” and “Defund ICE!” Reform ICE wherever reform is needed. But abandoning immigration enforcement is not reform. It is surrender. It is giving up national sovereignty, and that is madness. Last week, Ceuta, Spain proved it.

Imminent: The Timing Of The Rapture May Be Unknowable, But Where It Sits On The Prophetic Timeline Is Not

What about the timing of the rapture? That’s another hotly debated subject in the church. While most acknowledge the day and hour is unknowable, is that day and hour before the tribulation, during the tribulation, or at the end of the tribulation? (These are the pre-, mid-, and post-tribulation rapture views). Does not knowing the day or hour mean we can’t know anything about the timing of the rapture in relation to the tribulation? That depends on which timing view you hold to. If you believe in a pre-tribulation rapture, then seeing things develop that will be fulfilled during the tribulation should stir up a sense of expectation and excitement because it could happen at any time. But if you are mid- or post-trib, then you know that because the tribulation has not yet begun, there is no expectation that the rapture could occur within the next three-and-a-half or seven years.

The Slippery Slope Of Australia’s Spirituality: A Deliberate Campaign Of Atheism

On 29 July 2026, the church that I pastor played host for the Brisbane leg of a tour of Australia by Amir Tsarfati and Pastor Barry Stagner. On that blessed evening, over 1,000 people gathered together for praise, powerful preaching, prayer, and of course, photos with these two beloved servants of God. Even though we hired a large venue for the evening, seating was limited. This meant that, sadly, many missed out on being able to attend. One such person who was not able to secure tickets remarked that it would be wonderful if this was the dilemma faced by every Bible-believing church in Australia on a Sunday morning. Yet Australia's overall spiritual landscape suggest a disturbing deterioration away from Biblical belief.
