Well, that didn’t take long. After what seemed like a millisecond of national unity against antisemitism in the wake of the Bondi massacre, people want to take to the streets again in order to “Free Palestine.” Although their usual talking points of genocide and mass starvation still remain at the core of their protests, the pro-Palestine mob seems to have become incensed at the decision by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to invite Israeli President Isaac Herzog to visit Australia.
The following statement was released by the Students for Palestine, in response to Herzog’s scheduled visit: “The Melbourne Palestine movement is taking the streets this Sunday, 12pm [11 January, 2026] at the State Library, to protest the federal government’s decision to invite the Israeli president to visit Australia, to demand an end to the Gaza genocide and occupation of the West Bank, and to defend our right to protest.”
The leaders of the movement then went on to brazenly claim, “Amid these atrocities, the Australian political establishment is weaponising the Bondi massacre to crush Palestine solidarity. How dare they.”
Thanks for the cringy Greta Thunberg impression but this is not about “weaponising the massacre”, it is about holding pro-Palestinian movements accountable for “globalising the intifada.” Although the movement claims the phrase is non-violent in nature and is characterised by the pursuit of justice, the reality is that the most prominent expressions of intifada have been through the lens of violence against Israelis, Jews, and institutions supporting Israel. As Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, recently posted on X: “‘Globalize the Intifada’ is not a call for justice; it is a call for violence.”
So, unfortunately, it seems that Australia will have to wrestle with this movement for a little longer. Rather than shocking their moral compass into action, they are using the Bondi massacre as fuel to pursue their wicked agenda. To this end, their statement ended in a foreboding manner: “Supporters of Palestine must redouble our efforts to build the solidarity movement and stand up to the ruling class offensive. The road to a free Palestine is a long one, but the past two years have given us a glimpse of hope—from the global Freedom Flotilla to the general strike in Italy. We have faced down attacks on our movement because we know that we stand on the right side of history. This moment is another test; we must rise to the occasion.”
However, it is not only social movements which are vocally opposing the proposed Herzog visit but also political action groups. The Labor Friends of Palestine group (who consist of rank-and-file members of the ruling Australian Labor Party) said that, if Herzog does travel to Australia, federal police should investigate him for his role in what they alleged was incitement of genocide.
Although international law experts say that outcome is unlikely to occur, it continues to highlight the fact that the anti-Israel crowd have little regard for correctly interpreting established law (domestically and internationally) when the topic is Israel.
Meanwhile, many Australians have been vocally demanding that Anthony Albanese authorise a royal commission into the Bondi massacre. In Australia, royal commissions are the highest form of inquiry on matters of public importance but are only established in rare and exceptional circumstances. The purpose of a royal commission is threefold:-
- find out why specific events happened;
- work out who is accountable; and
- make findings and recommend changes to policies and laws (although the government is not compelled to implement any of those recommendations).
Many who are advocating for a royal commission into the terrorist attack are hoping that the investigations reveal what information government agencies were privy to prior to the attack. In particular, many are asking how seemingly obvious red flags did not gain the attention of security agencies.
Others are more sceptical and feel that a royal commission would fail to achieve meaningful change but would simply represent a bureaucratic business as usual affair. Nevertheless, if Prime Minister Albanese bows to public pressure, it is anticipated that the Federal Government will call for a Commonwealth royal commission to work parallel (with uniform terms of reference) to a New South Wales royal commission. It is important that both are called in tandem as a New South Wales royal commission cannot directly investigate or compel evidence from the Commonwealth, its institutions, or officers.
Similarly, a Commonwealth royal commission can only inquire into matters that relate to the Commonwealth’s responsibilities. Therefore, if the Jewish community and Australians as a whole are to benefit from a thorough investigation, it requires a joint investigation.
For those who understand God’s eschatological program, we affirm that there is a day of accountability coming. When Jesus comes back to Earth to reign, He will judge the nations according to their treatment of His brethren, the Jewish people. This judgment, commonly known as the sheep and goat judgement, will determine who among the surviving Gentiles will enter into the Millennial Kingdom.
Just like those who assisted Jews during the Holocaust, the sheep of Matthew 25 are also seen to be righteous amongst the nations. How do they receive such a title? We must be careful to assert that it is not by works. They are righteous on the basis that they are saved from the penalty of sin and clothed in Christ’s righteousness because they received Him as their Saviour. But their regenerated nature is clearly evidenced by how they treat the Lord’s brethren, the Jewish people, during the Great Tribulation. Antisemitism will run rampant during the Tribulation Period.
Apart from genuine faith in the Jewish Messiah, no Gentile will dare to befriend a Jew. The righteous Gentiles will feed them, give them drink, take them in, clothe them, and visit them when they are sick and in prison (Matthew 25:35–36). To their amazement, the Lord will declare that they were actually ministering to Him (Matthew 25:40).
On the other hand, the goats will be condemned to “the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41). Though the goats protest that they were not granted an opportunity to minister to Jesus directly, the Lord will inform them that their hostile attitude and physical mistreatment of His brethren was the outward manifestation of their inward rejection of Him (Matthew 25:45).
As the worldwide antisemitic mob continues to demonstrate, a hatred of the Jewish people really stems from the fact that they reject and hate Jesus. As we inch closer to the rapture, goat-like behaviour is becoming more widespread, violent and oppressive. They are not, as they claim, on the right side of history. In fact, unless they change their ways, they will find themselves on the prophesied left hand of Jesus (Matthew 25:33; 41; 46) and that is not a place they want to be.
