Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are deploying to minister to the grieving community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, in the wake of one of Canada’s worst mass shootings.
Ten people were killed, and at least 25 more were injured at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The suspected shooter was also found dead.
“Our hearts are broken by this unspeakable tragedy,” said Tristan Klasson, manager of BG-RRT in Canada. “We want the families of those killed and injured and the community to know they are not alone. Our crisis-trained chaplains are going to offer comfort and prayer for all who have been impacted by this horrific event.”
Tumbler Ridge is a small community of 2,400 in northern British Columbia. Chaplains were invited by local church leaders and will serve in close partnership with them to provide emotional and spiritual care for residents.
“This incident has sent shockwaves of horror and grief across the globe,” said Josh Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. “We mourn with every person affected by this tragedy. The Bible reminds us that the Lord offers compassion and comfort to those facing trouble. That is the message our crisis-trained chaplains carry as they minister and share the hope of Jesus Christ with a brokenhearted community.”
Will you pray for the families of those affected by this tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, and for all who are experiencing loss? Please also lift up first responders working across the area and our chaplains as they minister in Jesus’ Name.
