BDS Petition Blames Israel for US Police Brutality, Protests

A petition being circulated at the University of California (UC) has suggested that Israel is to be blamed for teaching methods to American police forces that were used and resulted in the death of George Floyd, according to theย Algemeiner.

Isaiah 5:20-21 KJV – “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”

Theย petitionย was circulated online and signed by hundreds of organizations and individuals from schools within the UC system, which included among other demands for abolishing US police forces and returning โ€œall Indigenous landsโ€ to Native Americans.

โ€œThis complicity goes beyond domestic policing. We also call on theย UCย to divest from companies that profit off of Israelโ€™s illegal military occupation of Palestine, investments that uphold a system of anti-Black racism in the US,โ€ the petition said, connecting the universities to Israel.

It added that “we know the Minneapolis police were also trained by Israeli counter-terrorism officers. The knee-to-neck choke-hold that Chauvin used to murder George Floyd has been used and perfected to torture Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces through 72 years of ethnic cleansing and dispossession. Police departments view Israeli Defense Force tactics as models for responding to โ€˜public health and safety crises.โ€™”

The second demand listed in the petition is that the UC โ€œDivest from companies that profit off Israelโ€™s colonial occupation of Palestine.โ€

Jeremiah 30:3 KJV โ€“ย โ€œFor, lo, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will bring again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith the LORD: and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.โ€

In response to the claim of a connection between Israeli training and the Minneapolis police force, a spokesperson from the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest told Algemeiner thatย  โ€œAny attempt to create any link between what took place in Minnesota with Israel is baseless and misguided.โ€

Executive director of the independent pro-Israel group Academic Engagement Network Professor Miriam Elman also criticized the petition, saying that “like past efforts to blame Israel for US policing problems and police violence, the petition has absolutely no basis in fact. It defies belief to suggest that Israel was responsible for the killing of George Floyd because, according to the signatories, back in 2012 some Minneapolis police officers attended an FBI-hosted counter-terror seminar where a few Israeli law enforcement officials were invited to speak.”

She added that “the notion that this training program, or similar police exchanges sponsored by the Anti-Defamation League and other American Jewish organizations, cause or contribute to police shootings by American cops on the beat is ludicrous. It smacks of antisemitic tropes and canards related to Jewish power, money, and influence that have sustained anti-Jewish hatred across the millenia.โ€

โ€œThis petition basically states that if you care about Black Lives Matter, racial and social justice, and the need for police reform, then you must also revile Israel and detest its supporters, who stand accused of complicity in the suffering of blacks, Latinos, Native Americans and other minority communities,โ€ she continued. โ€œScapegoating American Jews for societal ills is one of the hallmarks of antisemtic discourse. University of California campus leaders must not hesitate to speak out forcefully and unequivocally against it.โ€

Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, director of the AMCHA Initiative watchdog organization, which seeks to combat antisemitism on American campuses, said toย Algemeinerย that โ€œIt is truly sad that at a time when we should be coming together and uniting against hate and bigotry, some are exploiting this tragic moment and using it as a vehicle to promote anti-Israel divisiveness and hate.ย  Sadly, this happens on campus all too often.

She noted that the petition is part of aย  “deliberate effort directed by the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel to have anti-Israel student and faculty activists use every opportunity to align themselves with meaningful causes while ostracizing and suppressing Jewish students and pro-Israel voices. And faculty, who should know better, are playing a more prominent role than ever.โ€

โ€œThe dozens of faculty members who signed this petition should be ashamed of themselves, particularly Jeanelle Hope, who was paid by the California Department of Education to develop an ethnic studies model curriculum for our stateโ€™s high schools. With faculty who do not hesitate to use every opportunity to promote their narrow, radical and hate-filled agenda, it is no wonder that the first draft of that ethnic studies model curriculum resembled a partisan playbook filled with political propaganda โ€” including the promotion ofย BDSย โ€” and not an educational curriculum,โ€ she continued.

The petition originally surfaced Monday as a post on the DisarmUC Facebook page, which describes itself as โ€œa movement, a collective, which seeks to disarm campus police across University of California campuses.โ€

A National Crisis Of Antisemitism: Canada Receives An Alarming Report Card On Its Treatment Of Jews

Canada has been getting bad report cards for a number of years now, with 2025 being the worst yet. According to the report by B'nai Brith, 6,800 anti-semitic incidents were documented across Canada in 2025โ€”the highest number ever recorded since the organization began tracking incidents in 1982. That is an average of more than 18 antisemitic incidents per day. The report described Canada as facing a โ€œnational crisis of antisemitism,โ€ noting that incidents increased by 9.4% over 2024 and by 145.6% since 2022. B'nai Brith reported a dramatic increase in online harassment, vandalism, and incidents of violence, especially since October 7th, 2023, as well as the alarming increase in the demonization of Zionism and trends of antisemitism on Canadian campuses.

Tennessee Congressman Finds Himself Under A Coordinated Assault For Opposing Climate Alarmism

U.S. Congressman Andy Ogles of Tennesseeโ€™s 5th District, one of the most consistent conservative voices in the House Freedom Caucus, is under coordinated assault โ€” not from his constituents, but from a swarm of out-of-state green energy grifters determined to purchase a more compliant lawmaker in Congress. The vehicle is the โ€œInvest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC,โ€ a super PAC bankrolled by so-called clean-energy investors furious that their taxpayer-funded gravy train is being exposed and interrupted.

The Danger Of Reshaping Christianity To Fit Culture: An Evangelical Pastor’s Open Letter To James Talarico

When theological claims are presented in the Name of Christ, people naturally assume they are hearing Biblical truth. My concern is that some of the positions you advocate may lead sincere people away from the clear teaching of Scripture and toward a version of Christianity that reflects the spirit of the age more than the Word of God.
