Netanel Shukrun, an Israeli father of six, was killed in a shooting attack in Judea Samaria after a Palestinian gunman opened fire on Israelis who had come to a spring for ritual immersion ahead of Yom Kippur.
Israeli security forces later apprehended the wounded suspect in a hospital in Ramallah. While Hamas praised the attack, they didn’t explicitly claim responsibility.
President Isaac Herzog said in a statement that terrorism would not break the Israeli spirit: “I bow my head in memory of the murdered, share from the depths of my heart in the grief of his family and community, and pray for the healing of the wounded. Even on this holy eve, we declare clearly and firmly: Terror will not break us nor shake our spirit. Against it, we will stand together, united, resolute, and full of faith.”
Here’s my take.
You know what’s really sad? Major networks like CNN, The Washington Post, CBS, ABC, and NPR completely neglected to cover the murder of Mr. Shukrun. Yet, they are more than eager to repeatedly publish about settler violence in Judea and Samaria—a problem that the Israeli police and the Israeli defense forces continue to manage.
The lack of coverage of this horrific terrorist event on the eve of Yom Kippur is absolutely deafening.
