U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee vowed that the U.S. would continue helping Israel to prevent aid from falling into the hands of Hamas, and at the same time slammed the United Nations.
The remarks were made as Huckabee met a group of mothers of combat soldiers from the “Mothers of Fighters” organization.
They thanked Huckabee for the activities of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which has been distributing aid without any help from UN aid organizations.
However, the mothers also noted that some aid continues to be transferred to UN bodies in northern Gaza, where it is easily stolen by Hamas terrorists.
“I agree 100%. Everything that goes in ends up in Hamas’ hands,” Huckabee responded.
“We know this. Israel is forced to deal with UN institutions, and the UN is the offender – we will do everything to back Israel against the UN to stop this aid transfer.”
Huckabee and the U.S. were intimately involved in the creation of the GHF, and the ambassador has repeatedly defended the organization against criticism.
“Last month Donald Trump told us to get food to civilians in Gaza but DON’T let Hamas steal it. GHF delivers 50 MILLIONTH meal tomorrow,” Huckabee wrote on 𝕏 earlier this week.
“NOT always pretty, but 800k+ unique recipients of food & 1ST TIME they received food FREE since start of war. Hamas has stolen or taxed it & now w/GHF they CAN’T! Hamas’ main tool to control Gaza is GONE. Hamas has put a bounty on head of everyone at GHF-Gazans & Americans. The UN remains SILENT.”
“It’s why POTUS (President of the United States) says Hamas can’t stay or ever govern Gaza. They don’t care if they kill or starve their own people,” he wrote.
This week, the IDF reorganized and improved roads to the distribution sites run by GHF in the Gaza Strip.
The IDF erected fencing and placed signs indicating proper routes to the aid sites to avoid coming near active combat zones. In addition, the military erected barriers and vehicle checkpoints to prevent the entry of unauthorized vehicles in the vicinity of the humanitarian aid distribution sites.
The mothers also showed Huckabee footage demonstrating how the aid reaching Hamas directly contributes to the deaths of Israeli soldiers.
“During the meeting, we showed the ambassador a video revealing that Hamas has wired entire areas with surveillance cameras secretly delivered through aid trucks. This allows them to detonate explosives against our soldiers. This must stop. It’s time to defeat Hamas once and for all,” the group told Israel Hayom news.
They also expressed their hopes that the efforts of the Trump administration can bring a lasting peace “so that our soldiers will not find themselves again in a war under even worse conditions.”
“What an honor it is to serve my country in the Land of Israel – the land that has belonged to the Jewish people for 3,800 years,” Huckabee replied.
“It is an honor for me to represent President Trump and the American people, in solidarity with our true and only partner in the world. We have friends, we have allies – but we have only one true partner, and that is the State of Israel.”
