When Truth Is Sacrificed For Political Posturing, Genuine Justice And Fairness Cannot Exist

Tony Perkins

In Isaiah chapter 59, the prophet lamented a troubling condition in his day, declaring: โ€œJustice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.โ€

Isaiah recognized that without truth, integrity, justice, and fairness become unattainable. When truth collapses, genuine justice is compromised.

This insight resonates powerfully today when considering recent claims made by Democratic lawmakers like Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren (D) regarding the reconciliation bill that targets waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid. Warrenย proclaimed: โ€œThis bill would cut Medicaid, gut the Affordable Care Act, and slash food assistance. If it passes the Senate, this bill will rip health care away from 14 million people, over a quarter of a million right here in Massachusetts โ€” all to pay for tax handouts for billionaires.โ€

Really? Does requiring able-bodied individuals to work equate to ripping health care away from vulnerable mothers, children, or seniors? Hardly. What it does mean is that capable individuals should engage productively rather than relying indefinitely on taxpayer-funded programs. This aligns closely with the Apostle Paulโ€™s firm biblical instruction to the Thessalonians: โ€œIf anyone is not willing to work, let him not eatโ€ (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Such accountability may indeed be necessary given our nationโ€™s nearly $37 trillion debt.

However, the issue extends beyond individual responsibility. Take Ohio as an example: State Representative Mike Dovilla (R) initiated an investigation into Ohioโ€™s Medicaid eligibility using LexisNexis Risk Solutions. Ohioโ€™s Medicaid enrollment ballooned to approximately 3.5 million people in 2023 โ€” almost 30% of the stateโ€™s population โ€” costing taxpayers $31.8 billion. The probe discovered nearly 30% of these enrollees were ineligible, including over 4,000 individuals holding liquid assets between $100,000 and $1 million, far exceeding the stateโ€™s $2,000 eligibility limit.

Why did such an unchecked expansion occur, even in a conservative state like Ohio? Primarily because the federal government covers nearly 70% of the programโ€™s costs, reducing incentives for rigorous oversight. If Ohio merely enforced existing eligibility standards, taxpayers could save approximately $2.5 billion. Moreover, similar situations likely exist nationwide, suggesting billions more could be saved with appropriate oversight and accountability.

The reconciliation bill โ€” aptly named the โ€œOne, Big, Beautiful Billโ€ โ€” may not address every instance of Medicaid waste and abuse. However, it confronts some of the most glaring abuses and discourages reckless state-level expansions that threaten genuine health care access for truly needy individuals. Politicians like Senator Warren, prioritizing political narratives over truth, endanger the very people they claim to defend. When truth is sacrificed for political posturing, responsible policy decisions become impossible, ultimately hurting those most in need. Truth matters; without it, genuine justice and equity cannot exist.

Borders, Faith, And Common Sense: America Has Come A Long Wayโ€”But The Midterms Could Put All Those Gains In Jeopardy

With the mainstream mediaโ€™s relentless left-wing bias and doom and gloom, it can be easy to forget just how far weโ€™ve come over the past year-and-a-half or so since President Trump took office. The most secure southern border in American history. Record low murder rates. Gender madness and DEI collapsing. Iran's nuclear weapons program destroyed. Christianity celebrated and not targeted. Inflation down dramatically. The list goes on. And yet: all of these incredible gains are in jeopardy if patriotic, common sense Americans don't turn out and vote against the radical collection of Islamists, socialists and outright communists running in November's mid-term elections.

Is Gay ‘Marriage’ Valid? The World Lashes Out At The Biblical Answer

That probably wonโ€™t come as a shock (and it certainly doesnโ€™t faze me)โ€”people are often upset by bold proclamations of Biblical truth. Nearly every post I make on social media receives at least some degree of negative interaction from unbelievers or Christians who have compromised on the truth of Genesis. But a recent post on my Facebook page exploded with hate. It was a short post (sometimes these short posts garner the most attention!), and it stated: "A gay 'marriage' is not a valid marriage."

Michele Bachmannโ€™s Advice To The President: โ€˜Take The Handcuffs Off Of Israelโ€™

Michele Bachmann, a former congresswoman, 2012 Presidential Candidate, and outspoken friend of the Jewish State, advised the President to โ€œtake the handcuffs off of Israelโ€ and enable the nation to handle its own self-defense unencumbered. On the premiere episode ofย โ€œFalling Into Placeโ€ย alongside co-hostย Jan Markell, Bachmann noted that Israel is being strong-armed into absorbing attacks on its nationโ€”something that the United States, if it were in the same position, would never deem acceptable.
