The Olympics’ Opening Ceremony Is Supposed To Be A Celebration — Instead, It Was An Abomination

Mark Hitchcock

The opening ceremony of the Olympics is supposed to be a celebration. Instead, it was an abomination. It was supposed to be a festivity. Instead, it was blasphemy. The opening ceremony was described as “wet, wild, and weird”—and certainly it was all of that. It was dark, macabre, and outrageously sacrilegious.

The entire opening ceremony was characterized as “one long drag show.” Drag queens did a parody of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci with a woman sitting in the middle with a halo over her head, intended to represent Jesus surrounded by his disciples. It’s hard to imagine something more blasphemous than that. People in drag and transgenders filled the entire celebration—or what was intended to be a celebration.

Elon Musk, who certainly is no friend of Christianity, weighed in and said the parody was “extremely disrespectful to Christians.” It was an open mocking of the Lord’s Supper.

The whole celebration was very disturbing. There was lots of fire and a bloody display of beheaded Marie Antoinettes singing, of course, referring back to the French Revolution.

Notably, the scene also featured a woman riding a white metallic horse across the river of seine (pronounced “sin” in English), donning the flag of the International Olympic Committee. They claimed the display was “representative of the Olympic spirit.” The horse passed under successive bridges as dove wings were unfurled, supposedly to symbolize a message of peace.

A rider on a white horse going across the river of “sin” with an apparent message of peace to the nations? The imagery is undoubtedly very reminiscent of what we read in Revelation 6.

In that chapter, the Bible tells us that someday, there will be a rider on a white horse who will come forth from Europe, a reunited Roman Empire, and that person will be the ultimate antichrist. It’s hard to imagine a stronger symbol of Biblical prophecy than what was just seen at this Olympic celebration.

Jesus, when He returns, will be coming back to the earth at His Second Coming on a white horse, as we read at the end of the book of Revelation in chapter 19. Revelation 6 describes a false messiah, the antichrist, who rides forth at the beginning of the tribulation period also on a white horse—the ultimate counterfeit Christ.

You couldn’t orchestrate all these blasphemous, sacrilegious things on purpose during this opening ceremony even if you tried. This was all satanically orchestrated.

There’s an attack on humanity. The zenith of God’s creation is the man and the woman, the two genders, and all of that is being confused by Satan for the world to watch. Then you have a rider on this metallic horse riding across the “sin” river to open these ceremonies—again, picturing this rider on the white horse. Ultimately, who could put all this together but Satan himself?

The whole opening ceremony was satanically energized and inspired.

There was one final thing that was a capstone to all of this. The celebration included a rendition of John Lennon’s song, “Imagine,” the lyrics of which state:

Imagine there’s no heaven / It’s easy if you try.

No hell below us / Above us, only sky.

Imagine all the people / Livin’ for today.

Sadly, that’s what you see in the Olympics: people living for today with no thought of eternity, accountability to God, and no fear of God.

Imagine there’s no countries / It isn’t hard to do.

Nothing to kill or die for / And no religion, too

Imagine all the people / Livin’ life in peace

Isn’t it ironic that John Lennon wrote about the whole world living in peace when the four person group of the Beatles couldn’t even live in peace!

The Olympics are also supposed to be this great picture of humanity, unity, and peace. The picture is certainly muddied by the 45,000 police and 18,000 soldiers in Paris for these opening ceremonies. There has already been sabotage against some of the railway systems in Paris.

In their worldview, somehow, without God and Christ, we can have peace and unity in this world. Tragically, that is just a mirage. The mask of our world system was ripped off during these Olympics for people to see what it really is—energized and empowered by Satan. This is the worldview of the elites in our world today.

In contrast to the parody carried out about the Lord’s Supper, we need to remember what Jesus did at the Lord’s Supper. He took the cup and said, “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28). We have a Savior who loved us and who died for us. That cup that he drank at the Lord’s Supper is the picture of the blood He shed for us on His cross. We also have the promise that the Lord Jesus is coming back someday, riding on a white horse. He’s coming back to this earth to rule and reign.

As our world continues to go farther into wickedness, evil, blasphemy, and abomination, let’s be faithful to Jesus Christ. He’s coming back. Let’s live in light of that. Let’s have all the influence we can have in this world until He comes to take us to Heaven.

The Elevation And Worship Of ‘Pride’ In A Society That Has Abandoned Biblical Truth

The Apostle Paul explains in Romans 1 that when people reject the Creator, they do not stop worshiping altogether. Instead, they begin to worship created things rather than the One who created them. History repeatedly demonstrates that when societies abandon biblical truth, they inevitably replace it with alternative belief systems, symbols, and sources of authority. One recent example involved a gathering where participants prayed over a pride flag, asking that it become a symbol of hope, a blanket of protection, and a cape of power. The issue is not merely about a flag. The deeper issue is what the flag represents and the authority it is increasingly given within our culture.

How Allegory Reduces The Bible To Nothing More Than A Work Of Fiction

It is God alone who predicts the future. Prophecy is one of God’s signatures that tells us that we can trust in Him and His Word. It is what separates the Bible from all other religious writings in the world. But if we consistently use allegorical hermeneutics, as Charles Ryrie points out, then in effect what we have just done is reduce the Bible to nothing more than a work of fiction. How tragic! With hermeneutics like that, it is no wonder so many people want nothing to do with Bible prophecy. It is no wonder pastors refuse to preach and teach events concerning the future, and it is no wonder it can be so hard to understand.

Jan Markell: You Can’t Have A Genuine Revival With False Doctrine Raging

I hear a dozen evangelists stating that we are on the verge of a great revival. One self-proclaimed prophet says that a billion souls will come to faith in the coming weeks and months. If my Rapture is imminent, how can there be an imminent revival? Which is it? The Bible does talk about a coming revival. The question concerns its timing. Is it in the coming days, or is it after the Rapture when the “left behind” world realizes they should have listened to believers like you and me, get a second chance, and multitudes come to faith?
