Jack Hibbs: God Is Calling You To Stand

“Stand therefore” (Ephesians 6:14). What an incredible challenge! It takes courage to stand. Yet before courage comes determination. Human calculations will always find a thousand reasonable reasons to stand down or quit, which may sound good, but are usually wrong.

Imagine how Moses felt when God called him to lead the children of Israel and speak to Pharaoh. Moses convinced himself that he wasn’t eloquent enough because he stuttered. God’s answer? “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? Now therefore, go….” (Exodus 4:11-12). And Moses went in God’s power.

When God called Jeremiah to be a prophet to the nations, he protested that he was too young (Jeremiah 1:6). Jeremiah felt unqualified and inadequate because of his lack of experience. God’s answer? “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak” (Jeremiah 1:7-8). And Jeremiah spoke God’s words.

There is a story of a California miner who grew tired of chip, chip, chipping every day in his search for gold and gave up. He sold his claim to another, who soon discovered what the other had given up on. Remember, fear or feelings may tempt you to stop what you’re doing, but it is always too soon to quit.

God is calling you to stand. Whether it’s ministry, a hostile work environment, remaining steadfast in your marriage commitment, or some other arena, determine in your mind and heart to stand therefore.

Pope Claims That God ‘Rejects’ The Prayers Of Those Who Wage War — History And The Bible Disagree

Comments from Pope Leo XIV in a Palm Sunday homily are both puzzling and concerning. He stated, in part, that Jesus “rejects war” and does not listen to the prayers of those who wage it. Was the Allied effort in World War II — undertaken to stop Adolf Hitler and the atrocities of the Third Reich — contrary to the will of God? Were the prayers of leaders and soldiers, offered in humility and desperation, somehow rejected?

Humanity’s Worst Mistake Was God’s Master Plan: Why It Was A ‘Good’ Friday

Why do we call Good Friday “good” when such a bad thing happened, namely the death of Jesus? How could it be a good thing that God in human form would die such a tragic death? It was part of God’s plan from the very beginning. Before there was a solar system, much less a planet called earth, or a garden called Eden, or a couple known as Adam and Eve, a decision was made that God Himself would come to earth as a man and would go to a cross and die in the place of all sinners.

Behind The Headlines, The Gospel Is Spreading Into Every Corner Of The Earth With Its Message Of Triumph

As you know, the leaders of Iran adhere to an apocalyptic form of Islam, and they’re doing everything possible to discourage this revival. Anyone suspected of being a Christian is arrested or oppressed. But do you know what’s happening? Plans are unfolding for Billy Graham to preach in Iran! Yes, Dr. Graham’s sermons are being dubbed into Farsi and broadcast into the country. It’s believed his sermons will reach over twenty million Iranians in the safety of their own homes.
