God Commands The Nations To Bless Israel… And We Should Remember That On Election Day

Chris Katulka

A record number of Americans are poised to vote for a new president on November 5 to help determine the future of the United States.

Many pressing issues drive this election cycle. According to a Gallup poll, the economy, crime and violence, and hunger and homelessness are at the forefront of votersโ€™ minds. Americans are grappling with rising costs, making it increasingly difficult to put food on the table as inflation erodes their purchasing power. Furthermore, the ongoing border crisis has raised alarm in Congress concerning the heightened risk of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

In addition to these concerns, Bible-believing Christians must consider Israelโ€™s significance as they head to the polls. Since October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists killed more than 1,200 innocent Israelis and took more than 200 hostages, Israel has been engaged in an existential battle with an enemy dedicated to its destruction. Although Israelโ€™s geographical distance from us may create the illusion that its struggle is separate from ours, the war Israel is fighting has profound implications for the United States.

Israel stands at a critical juncture between East and West, not merely in terms of geography but also in values: democracy, human rights, religion, freedom, and liberty. In its formative years following the War of Independence and amid the Cold War, Israel grappled with whether to align itself with Western democracy or Eastern Bloc communism. Israelโ€™s first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, boldly committed the nationโ€™s future to the West during a tumultuous period in history.

As a frontier between Western democracies and Eastern totalitarian regimes, Israel faces constant threats. The October 7 massacre and the persistent rocket fire over the last 15 years have drawn the Israel Defense Forces into a relentless conflict not only with Hamas, but also with Hamasโ€™s supporter, Iran, a mutual adversary of Israel and the United States.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has called the United States the โ€œGreat Satanโ€ and Israel the โ€œLittle Satan.โ€ Iran has waged a shadow war for decades against both nations through proxy militias like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

Thus, electing U.S. leaders who steadfastly support Israelโ€™s right to defend itself and stand firm against Hamas and Iranian aggression is crucial. A secure Israel correlates to a secure America.

This political landscape should be significant to Bible-believing Christians. Godโ€™s sovereign hand undoubtedly has guided political movements throughout history.

Godโ€™s eternal truth has withstood the rise and fall of prime ministers, presidents, kings, and empires. The prophet Isaiah reminds us, โ€œThe grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands foreverโ€ (Isa. 40:8).

God made an everlasting covenant with the Jewish people and the nation of Israel that He Himself said remains unbreakable: โ€œI will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their Godโ€ (Lev. 26:44). The Lord has preserved the Jewish people for millennia; and their existence and presence in their ancient homeland,ย Eretz Yisrael, is a testament to Scriptureโ€™s truthfulness and Godโ€™s faithfulness.

When you vote on November 5, remember Israel. The covenant God made with Abraham and his descendants also commands the nations to bless Israel and the Jewish people (Gen. 12:3). God promises to bless those who bless them, and this divine promise should guide us as we cast our ballots.

A Baffling Deal With The Most Untrustworthy Regime On The Planet

It's not hard to imagine what Iran's regime will do with a financial windfall of hundreds of billions of dollars. Again, they will lie low as much as they can until Trump leaves office, and then they will resume pouring those newfound billions into rebuilding their nuclear and missile programs and funding the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah. President Trump is no dummy. He knows what Iran's regime is all about, but it seems the economic factor loomed large here. He warned yesterday of a โ€œglobal depressionโ€ if the Iran issue was not resolved soon.

The Rising Antisemitic Rhetoric In The Name Of Christ Must Be Confronted

This rising antisemitic rhetoric from those claiming the name of Christ must be confronted. Itโ€™s affecting the Jewish people in tangible, sometimes bloody ways; and we must denounce it wherever it surfaces. For the many Christians who support Israel and the Jewish people, Scriptureโ€”not influencersโ€”must remain our authority. There, we find Paulโ€™s admonition to Gentile believers not to โ€œboast againstโ€ the Jewish people, โ€œfor the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocableโ€ (Rom. 11:18, 29).

Jan Markell: You Canโ€™t Have A Genuine Revival With False Doctrine Raging

I hear a dozen evangelists stating that we are on the verge of a great revival. One self-proclaimed prophet says that a billion souls will come to faith in the coming weeks and months. If my Rapture is imminent, how can there be an imminent revival? Which is it? The Bible does talk about a coming revival. The question concerns its timing. Is it in the coming days, or is it after the Rapture when the โ€œleft behindโ€ world realizes they should have listened to believers like you and me, get a second chance, and multitudes come to faith?
