Failure Of Christians To Vote Their Biblical Values Is What Got Us Into So Much Trouble As A Society

Tim Moore

Election Day 2024 is less than a day away. Some of you may have already participated in early voting, and I have no doubt that all of us are eager to know the results of this election.

But have you ever stopped to consider that God already knows?

He knows who will be in the White House for the next four yearsโ€”and the four years after that. He knows how long this Republic will endure. Our Father in Heaven also knows when He will tell His Son to โ€œGo, and get your Bride.โ€

When we put things in perspective, the great contests that rage here and now fade in significance.

But still, contemporary contests are significant for the ramifications they will have both here at home and around the world. I absolutely believe that some of the catastrophes that have befallen Israel and Ukraineโ€”as well as Christians in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and Chinaโ€”would have been mitigated had America been led by a stronger leader in the White House these past four years. Clarity of vision and strength of conviction have been undeniably lacking.

Which brings me to my point today. Although God already knows the outcome of this election, He has called you and me to engage with the world we live in as ambassadors of the Kingdom of Heaven. We are living IN SUCH A TIME AS THIS so that we can testify to the Truth that transcends mere politics and serve as salt and light in a corrupt and darkening world. If nothing else, we are called to restrain the evil agendas being pushed in every sphere.

You may think your vote does not matter. Or, you may be so disheartened by both Presidential candidates that you donโ€™t want to vote for either. I would urge you not to give in to that deception.

First of all, individual votes do matter. For one thing, Iโ€™ve seen elections decided by one, single vote.

Second, abstaining altogether allows other votes opposing moral policies to have an outsized impact. As Edmund Burke said, โ€œAll that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.โ€ The failure of Christians to rise up and vote their biblical values is what got us into so much trouble as a society.

Finally, even if right does not prevail, we will be held accountable for our faithfulness to stand up and speak out. Just read Ezekiel 3 if you want to know Godโ€™s expectation for those He has called.

While I find much to be desired in the personality, demeanor, and character of both Presidential candidates, I also know that one will accelerate our society toward a secular abyss where the murder of unborn children is celebrated and gender confusion runs rampant, while the otherโ€”like the pagan King Nebuchadnezzarโ€”in spite of his own flaws has demonstrated a willingness to honor the Word of the true and living God.

To be sure, your religious liberty and mine is on the ballot this fall. We cannot waver in the face of rising threats.

Regardless of the outcome of this election, I will praise the Lord and eagerly await His soon return. But as long as I serve Him here, I will work to see that His will is done on earth, as it is in Heaven.

The Real ‘American Dream’ Of George Washington Was Far More God-Honoring Than Many Have Been Led To Believe

Washington personally read the Bible and quoted the Bible. Those who deny Americaโ€™s unique Christian roots will claim that many educated people in positions of prominence in the 18th century also quoted from the Bible. However, they also quoted from Greek and Roman authors of antiquity. Washington quoted almost exclusively from the Bible and applied its teachings to his personal life and role as a leader. The real American dream is far more God-honoring than what we have today. The true American patriot is working and praying that Washingtonโ€™s vision for America will once again claim the hearts of Americans.

Can We Still Askย Godย To Bless America When So Much Of The Culture Is In Open Opposition To Him?

Christians are under the kingship of Jesus first and foremost, but that does not negate the responsibilities of our earthly citizenship. We can make a difference in our own sphere of influence by being faithful where God gives us opportunities, and if every Christian did that, think how any country would change! We can still pray for God to bless America, but we should specifically pray for God to turn Americansโ€™ hearts back to him and to recognize his authority in all the areas where the culture has increasingly rejected him.

Thomas Jeffersonโ€™s ‘Separation Of Church And State’ Never Meant Keeping God Out Of Government

In context, itโ€™s clear this wall of separation was not created to keep religion out of the State. It was simply intended to protect religious freedom and to place boundaries on the Stateโ€™s control over the Church. In fact, the United States Capitol served as a church building for seven decades and Jefferson himself was a regular attendee. He attended so faithfully that he earned a reserved seat. On the Sunday after he wrote the letter to the Danbury Baptists, he attended church services at the still-under-construction Capitol.
