President Donald Trump is accusing Democrats of leaking sensitive intelligence related to the recent U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites and he’s demanding prosecution.
Trump dropped the bombshell Thursday on Truth Social, claiming Democrats compromised national security by revealing classified details of what he called the “PERFECT FLIGHT,” The Daily Wire reported.
“The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!” he wrote.
The accusation comes as the Biden-aligned media rushes to downplay the effectiveness of the mission. CNN and The New York Times published reports citing anonymous intel officials who claim the bombings only delayed Iran’s nuclear program by a few months not destroyed it outright.
But Trump officials are pushing back hard.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed an investigation is already underway.
“We’re doing a leak investigation with the FBI right now, because this information is for internal purposes, battle-damage assessments,” Hegseth said Wednesday. “And CNN and others are trying to spin it to make the president look bad when this is an overwhelming success.”
According to the CIA and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, further assessments indicate the facilities were in fact destroyed contradicting early leak-based reports.
The Trump administration says the strike was necessary to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and that the mission achieved its goal.
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tried to cast doubt on the entire operation. After receiving a closed-door briefing, Schumer claimed Trump had “no plan” and no “coherent strategy.” He also pushed for a war powers vote to limit the president’s ability to act.
Earlier Thursday, Trump took direct aim at the media outlets spreading the leak.
“FAKE NEWS REPORTERS FROM CNN & THE NEW YORK TIMES SHOULD BE FIRED, IMMEDIATELY!!! BAD PEOPLE WITH EVIL INTENTIONS!!!” he posted in all caps.
Trump also threatened a defamation lawsuit — demanding retractions and public apologies from both outlets. But CNN and The New York Times aren’t backing down.
“No retraction is needed. No apology will be forthcoming. We told the truth to the best of our ability. We will continue to do so,” said New York Times attorney David McCraw.
Trump, however, isn’t buying it — and the FBI investigation into the leaks is just getting started.
