According to reports, this same vessel was stopped in the Gulf of Oman last year and was found to be transporting a large number of weapons, which were likely bound for the Houthis in Yemen.
Approximately one week ago, the US Navy reportedly seized a ship in the Gulf of Oman carrying a large amount of explosive material, undoubtedly from Iran, to the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The approximate load of explosive fertilizer found on the ship last week amounts to a whopping 40 tons. This specific material is commonly used to make IEDs (improvised explosive devices).
In the same area, the British royal navy claims it also uncovered over 2,200 pounds of illegal narcotics.
Iran has repeatedly smuggled weapons and other warfare assets to the Houthis via maritime vessels throughout the Yemeni Civil War. According to reports, this very ship was seized in the region in 2021 during its attempt to deliver a significant number of weapons to Yemen.
